Cake Inc. is a bakery specializing in custom cakes not necessarily in regards to the aesthetics but in regards to the ingredients. They cater to clients who require not only require high quality deserts but also those with dietary restrictions. The logo needed to be recognizable and simple but communicate the custom nature of the business without becoming besieged by flourishes.
The brand mark is a hand drawn cake slice to reference the artisanal nature of the company. The negative space at the top as well as the angles of the horizontal lines imply a three dimensional shape. The overall effect is of a sophisticated image that disavows the tropes usually associated with bakery logos.
